by Garrett Suchanek

Two days after dropping its opening GPAC match of the season, the Concordia women’s tennis team bounced back with a 5-4 victory over College of Saint Mary.

The Bulldogs improve to 3-11 on the year and 1-1 in GPAC play.

Concordia won two of the three doubles competition matches. The pairs of sophomore Annie Horn with freshman Anna Kenney and sophomore Alison Ebel with freshman Katelinn Wurm collected the two wins. Horn and Kenney won 8-6 while Ebel and Wurm won 8-1.

In singles play, the Flames took the first three matches to earn a 4-2 advantage, but Concordia’s four, five and six spots finished the day with wins to earn the team victory.

Filling in the four through six spots were Ebel, sophomore Hannah Boe and freshman Kayla Smock. All three players won in straight sets. Ebel won 6-3 and 6-2, Boe won 6-0 and 6-3 and Smock won 6-2 and 6-0.

Concordia will look to carry its momentum into its next match when the Bulldogs travel to Doane College on Wednesday, April 6. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
