Women Advance to the Round of Eight
By Wyatt Kube
The Concordia women’s basketball team continues their playoff run as they took down Marian University 73-67 on Mar. 19.
The Bulldogs were undersized against the Knights, but that didn’t stop them from turning the game into a track meet. The Knights came out strong taking an early 7-0 lead which was their largest of the game.
The Bulldogs came out of a timeout striking back to score seven unanswered points to tie the game. After that, the Bulldogs never looked back as they controlled the rest of the game.
Three Bulldogs finished with double digit points to help get the win, freshman Taysha Rushton finished with 27 points, junior Taylor Cockerill finished with 11 points, and junior Rylee Pauli finished with 17 points. Rushton and Cockerill were the closers as they came up big in the late stages of the game to seal the deal. As the season continues for the Bulldogs, they will get ready to play a GPAC championship rematch as they face Morningside on Mar. 20 at Sioux City, IA inside the Tyson Events Center. A live stream will be available on the NAIA Network with a required fee. Tip off will be at 8 p.m.
