Concordia track and field sent 12 athletes to the University of Nebraska Graduate Classic in Lincoln on Jan. 17-18.

Junior Mayson Ostermeyer was the highlight of the meet for the Bulldogs. He placed fifth in the men’s pole vault, but his 4.99-meter jump was a personal record and good enough to land him the number one spot in national qualifying.

Concordia’s sprinters started off Saturday events with tough NCAA division one competition around them. Freshman Easton Fries set a strong qualifying time of 8.27 and finished fifth in the finals with an 8.28 time. Junior Adriana Rodencal and senior Isabelle Salters ran in the women’s event but were unable to qualify for finals. Rodencal was ninth with an 8.77 and Salters was 19th with a 9.46.

Four athletes ran in the 200-meter dash for Concordia: juniors Liam Fagan and Aaron Everett, sophomore Matthew Wing and senior Emily Loeske. Fagan finished on top for the male Bulldogs with a 22nd place finish and a 22.96 time. Wing was 27th with a time of 23.73 and Everett had a 24.97 and finished 33rd. Loeske was 21st in the women’s event with a time of 25.98.

Junior Josi Noble rounded out the individual events with a 10th place finish in the women’s 600-meter run. She had a time of 1:44.49.

The relay teams placed well at the Graduate Classic as well. The women’s 4×400-meter relay made up of Rodencal, senior Trinity Tuls, Salters and junior Kayla Kirchner came fourth with a time of 4:00.93. The men’s team of Fagan, Wing, freshman Perry Chadwick and Fries came fifth with a time of 3:21.50.

Track and Field’s next meet is the Concordia Classic on Jan. 24-25 in Seward. Events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on the 24 and 12 p.m. on the 25.
