Student Senate President talks about Concordia culture
It is a privilege to welcome you all as we commence the 2019-20 academic year. To the Class of 2023 and transfer students, welcome to your new home. To our returning students, welcome back home.
This new year marks another critical journey of our lives. Congratulations on choosing Concordia University, Nebraska as your partner in your educational journey.
Without a single shadow of a doubt, I can rest assured that you have made the right choice. Just in case you have not already noticed the unique culture here, I want to warn you that there will be many strangers like myself greeting and hugging you as if you guys have been friends forever.
The truth of the matter is that at Concordia, we are all one big family regardless of how new you are. CUNE is indeed a place for everyone irrespective of your ethnicity, background,
race or creed. I am a living testament to the equal opportunity that this institution offers to all students.
CUNE is one of the best Christian universities in the nation because of its high standard, great culture and discipline. So being a student of CUNE means that you are a student of a high standard.
Our institution is blessed with above-average professors and staff who have a great passion for serving us. Our professors do not limit their concerns to our academic success, but are also invested in our social wellbeing, personal life, and most importantly, our Christian faith.
There are always enough hands to help you out with whatever challenge you might encounter during your stay at Concordia, so please do not be shy to seek help. As stated in Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” We have supportive systems like the library tutoring center, small study groups and even class professors who are always willing to meet with students during office hours for personal assistance. Take hold of every opportunity at your disposal.
As your official student representative, Student Senate will continue to work with the administration to ensure that the voice of every student is respected and heard.
We will do all we can with God being our help to represent the best interest of the entire student population of CUNE.
Attending Student Senate’s weekly meeting is another great way to give back to your university.
Every registered student is automatically a member of Student Senate. The way to be involved is to get involved. I would also like to encourage you to join various clubs and organizations on campus, and make maximum use of the spaces across campus. Especially, daily chapel services at 11 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Lastly, take care of your self. With our fast-paced and constantly changing world, it is essential to take a step back. Not only will taking a step back give you a moment to recharge, but it would also allow you the creativity to evaluate and rethink your strategy for success. Make your time at CUNE a memorable one.
Once again, happy 2019-20 academic year.
I love you all – and God bless Concordia University, Nebraska.
