If you missed Concordia University Nebraska sports this weekend, here is what happened.
Concordia cross country competed at the Holiday Inn Express Classic in Sioux Center, Iowa on Oct. 12. The men won third while the women placed fourth. The men were led by freshman Vaughn Hendrickson who finished third in the 8k with a time of 24:58.33 and the women were led by junior Keegan Beisel who finished 19th in the 6k with a time of 23:10.0. The Bulldogs get a break and race again on Oct. 26 at the Blazing Tiger Classic in Ashland.
Concordia women’s soccer celebrated its senior day with a 3-1 win over the Morningside University Mustangs on Oct. 12. Three juniors put up points on the board for the Bulldogs. Kierstynn Garner scored her 10th goal of the season in the sixth minute, Savannah Andrews in the 53rd minute with an assist from Garner and Sierra Springer took her first goal of the season in the 62nd minute. Senior Angela Banks was the goalie for the game with two saves and one goal allowed. The team is now 6-5-1 overall and 3-3 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
The seniors celebrated were Banks, Zoe Lavigne, Senna McMullen, Katelyn Smith, Lilley Barber, Molly Roberts, Mirarosa Gyllenswan, Emily Howard and Taylor Slaymaker.
Concordia men’s soccer also had its senior day game against Morningside finishing with a 1-1 tie. Sophomore Hugo Garrote scored the Bulldogs’ one goal for the day in the 28th minute with an assist from senior Martin Herrera. Junior Nolan Fuelberth was the goalie for the day with four saves and one goal allowed. The team is now 3-2-8 overall and 2-0-4 in the GPAC.
The seniors celebrated were Fuelberth, Herrera, Gabriel Mendoza, Ryan Brown, Jarrod Henson, D’Andre Williams, Carter Hinman, Spencer Kaufman and Manuel Rodriguez.
The soccer teams next face Doane University in Crete on Oct. 16 with the women’s game at 5 p.m. and the men’s at 7:15 p.m.
