If you missed Concordia University Nebraska sports this weekend, here is what happened.
The Concordia cross country team traveled to Ashland to compete in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Nov. 9. The men finished third and the women placed fourth. Three Bulldogs were named GPAC All-Conference award winners.
Freshman Vaughn Hendrickson was the name of the day with a first-place win in the men’s 8k with a time of 25:44.09. This is the first time since 2012 that a Bulldog has won the men’s GPAC cross country title. Sophomore Trey Robertson won second place with a time of 25:52.70. Junior Keegan Beisel had a top 10 finish placing ninth with a time of 23:47.44 in the women’s 6k.
Hendrickson, Robertson, and Beisel were named to the All-Conference list. The men hope to receive an at-large bid to the national championships and the women hope to qualify at least Beisel.
The Concordia wrestling team sent 14 athletes to the Dakota Wesleyan University Open on Nov. 9. Senior Cole Price fared the best with a fourth-place finish in the open 165 weight class. Price had five wins on the day including a 1:24 fall, 4-1 decision, 8-1 decision, 11-0 major decision and a 5-3 decision. He lost an 8-2 decision in his third match and had no contest in the third-place match. The wrestling team will move forward to its next dual against Hastings College on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in Hastings.
