If you missed Concordia University Nebraska sports this weekend, here is what happened.

The Concordia cheer and dance teams performed on Feb. 7 and 8 in the York University Crown Classic in York and the Concordia University Day of Duals in Seward respectively. Cheer and dance celebrated four seniors at the Concordia Day of Duals: Nathalie Fortenberry and Lexi Mack for cheer and Seanna Patterson and Katheryn Rice for dance. Both teams next head to Olathe, Kan. for the MidAmerica Nazarene University Duals on Feb. 15.

Cheer placed seventh in York with a final score of 69.97. In Seward over two rounds, the team scored 76.2 to beat out Waldorf University’s 51.9 in the first and 76.8 to beat out Mount Mercy University’s 68.85. Overall, the team was able to beat out fellow Great Plains Athletic Conference schools Waldorf, Dordt University and Mount Marty University.

Dance, meanwhile, placed third in York with a final score of 83.77. The next day in Seward the team barely missed beating the school score record of 85.9 with an 85.7 in the first round against William Penn University (75.25) and 85.55 in the second round against St. Ambrose University JV (78.0).

The Concordia men’s tennis team traveled to Fremont to face the Iowa Central Community College Tritons on Feb. 7 dropping the match 4-2. The team is now 1-2 overall and goes up against GPAC team Mount Marty University on Feb. 13 in Yankton, S.D.

The Bulldogs eked out the doubles point 2-1 winning the No. 1 match with the team of juniors Hugo Fuentes and Nick Velders and the No. 3 match with the team of junior Santiago Abadia and freshman Ben Chisholm. No. 2 Velders was the only Bulldog to come out on top of his singles match winning both sets 6-0. The No. 6 match between senior Grady Works and Iowa Central’s Mahefa Rakotomalala went unfinished leading to the lost point.

The Concordia wrestling team went 3-0 at the second GPAC Day of Duals hosted by Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D. beating the Northwestern College Red Raiders 29-16, the Briar Cliff University Chargers 41-6 and the Waldorf University Warriors 38-6. This finishes the regular season for the Bulldogs with a 6-2 dual record going into the conference championship hosted by Hastings College on Feb. 21.

Northwestern took the first points by forfeit due to Concordia not having a wrestler in the 125 weight class. Concordia’s first win came with a 4:17 fall from senior Creighton Baughman in the 149 class. Sophomore Barret Brandt would also win his 174 class bout with a 2:09 fall. Concordia would also have a 14-6 major decision win in the 157 class, and 14-0 major decision in the 165 class and a 10-8 decision in the 184 class.

Briar Cliff’s only points came in the 133 match with a 5:48 fall over junior Bryce Karlin. Otherwise, freshman Cal Price had a 1:24 fall in the 141 class, junior Dominick Flynn had a 1:10 fall in the 149 class, Brandt had a 1:04 fall in the 174 class and senior Hunter Weimer had a 2:08 fall in the 184 class.
