If you missed Concordia University Nebraska sports this weekend, here is what happened.

The Concordia wrestling team competed at the Connor Oppenheim Open hosted by Doane University on Dec. 7 with senior Creighton Baughman coming out on top of the open 141 category with five wins. Baughman had a 16-0 tech fall, 8-2 decision, 11-2 major decision, 4-1 sudden victory and a 6-4 decision to win the finals.

The team sent 26 athletes to Crete to compete and had two other athletes in the top five. Freshman Cal Price won third in the amateur 141 category exclusively by pins with a 1:27 fall, 2:18 fall, 1:39 fall and a 3:00 fall. Price was knocked into the consolation portion of the bracket by a narrow 8-7 decision in the semifinal match.

Another freshman, Evan Sepanlou, won fourth in the amateur 174 category. He started off with a 15-6 major decision win, 8-6 decision win, 4-1 decision win, 12-5 decision loss in the semifinals, 8-5 decision and was pinned in the third-place match at 4:13.

Junior Steve Barnes went 3-2 in the open 149 category but notched a ranked win against No. 20 Tyler Okada of Waldorf University in a 5-4 decision match.

Wrestling has their final event of the fall semester on Dec. 13 with a dual against Doane University in Seward at 7 p.m.
