Welcome back to school, Concordia students! For those of you who missed recent sporting events, here is what happened.
The Concordia women’s soccer team started off their season with a 4-2 win over the Graceland University Yellow Jackets in Lamoni, Iowa on Aug. 28. Junior Kierstynn Garner scored all four goals for the Bulldogs, most of which happened in the first half. Senior Angela Banks was the goalie for the match with five saves and two goals allowed. They next play Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri on Aug. 31.
The Concordia men’s soccer team played Graceland after the women and ended the game in a scoreless tie. Senior Carter Hinman and junior Oliver Benson each recorded a shot while senior Braden Spath had a shot on goal. Senior Gabriel Mendoza was the goalie for the match with four saves. They also play Columbia College next in Columbia Missouri on Aug. 31.
The Concordia men’s golf team began their season on Aug. 26-27 with the Mount Marty University Invite. The team placed fifth with a two-day total of 303-295–598 (+22). Senior Jake Hagerbaumer had the best score card with a 75-71–146 (+2) and tied for 10th. Junior Jake Richmond matched Hagerbaumer on day two and placed 18th 77-71–148 (+4). Their next event is the Blue River Invite from Sept. 4-5 in Lincoln.
