Sloup Leads Bulldog Men Past Mount Marty 98-74

Senior guard Brevin Sloup scored 29 points, including 17 in the first half, to lead the Concordia Bulldogs to a 98-74 victory over Mount Marty in Great Plains Athletic Conference basketball on Senior Day at Walz Arena.
Sophomore guard Justin Wiersema added 19 points while sophomore guard Carter Kent had 16, senior guard-forward Tanner Shuck had 14 and sophomore forward Gage Smith added 10. Senior forward Chuol Biel pulled down 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who are 19-9 overall and 10-8 in the GPAC.
The Mount Marty Lancers, led by 15 points apiece from senior guards Jordan Johnson, Colby Johnson and Chris King, fell to 18-9 overall and 9-8 in the GPAC.
The lead see-sawed briefly between the Lancers and Bulldogs early in the game before a 3-pointer by Smith put Concordia ahead 18-17 with 10:48 to go in the half and gave the Bulldogs a lead they never relinquished. Smith added another 3-pointer and Smith hit two threes as the Bulldogs built a halftime lead of 47-33. For the game, Sloup hit five threes, shooting 50% from beyond the arc, while Kent hit three, Smith two and Wiersema one.
As a team, the Bulldogs shot 54% from the field and 37% from 3-point range while hitting 75% of their free throws. Mount Marty shot 42% from the field, 29% from 3-point range and 65% from the free-throw line.
The Bulldogs have two games remaining, both on the road, before GPAC tournament play begins. The Bulldogs play at Midland on Wednesday before playing at Jamestown next Saturday. GPAC tournament play starts with the quarterfinals on Feb. 26.
