Senior Night brings Women’s Soccer Victory over Briar Cliff

The Concordia women’s soccer team came away victorious over Briar Cliff University on Senior Night, Oct. 22. The women’s soccer team honored seniors Jordan McCoy, Rachel Brandt, Kristin Manley, Megan Brunssen, Chrissy Lind and Leah Hoffmann.
After a first half with only six shots by the Bulldogs and two shots by Briar Cliff, the game was still tied at zero at the break.
The Bulldog’s offense heated up quickly in the second half. Senior forward Jordan McCoy scored a goal off of an assist from freshman midfielder Sami Birmingham 26 seconds into the period. Five minutes later, junior forward Jessica Skerston netted a goal with the help of teammate freshman forward Rachael Bolin to make the score 2-0 in favor of Concordia. Bolin connected on the next goal three minutes later with the help of sophomore defender Ashley Martin. Concordia continued to control the offense with two more saves for senior goalkeeper Chrissy Lind. With ten minutes left, Concordia substituted in fresh players to close out the 3-0 victory.
Concordia outshot Briar Cliff 20-7 on the game and 5-1 in corner kicks. Lind had three saves on the game for the Bulldogs.
Concordia now stands at 10-5-1 on the year and maintains a 5-3 GPAC record. The Bulldogs’ next game will be in Crete against GPAC foe Doane at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
