No. 8 Concordia Wrestling Claims Share of GPAC Dual Title

The No. 8 Concordia wrestling team clinched at least a share of the GPAC dual title for second year in a row with a 39-10 win over Hastings College Saturday afternoon. With a win at their next regular season match, the Bulldogs can clinch the GPAC dual title outright.
The Bulldogs (12-4, 6-0) extended its GPAC dual win streak to 13 while collecting their second-straight win over the Broncos.
Concordia won eight of the 10 matches on the day and outscored the Broncos 72-22 in matches that ended in technical falls, major decisions or decisions. The Bulldog’s eight wins came by two major decisions, two technical falls, two pin falls, one decision and one forfeit.
The Bulldogs won the first three matches of the day with juniors Dmitri Smith, Kodie Cole and Andrew Schulte. Smith won by major decision 13-2. Cole won by a 4-0 decision while Schulte won by technical fall 17-2.
Concordia also claimed the last three matches of the day. Senior Matt Atwood and freshman Alexander Reimers claimed victories by pin falls. Atwood pinned Dallas Doupnik in 4:26 while Reimers pinned Jose Rodriquez in 15 seconds. Junior Ceron Francisco won by forfeit in the heavyweight match.
Two other Bulldogs picked up wins on the day. Senior Jr Lule won by technical fall, 17-0, while junior Tommy Bailey won by a major decision, 20-7.
The Bulldogs will close out the regular season at home at 7 p.m. on Feb. 11 against the Morningside Mustangs (6-3, 5-1).
