No. 14 Women’s Basketball Takes Care of Mount Marty

The Concordia women’s basketball team battled the Mount Marty Lancers on Saturday, Dec. 12 and came up victorious 77-59. The Bulldogs have a 4-3 record in the GPAC and a 7-3 record overall.
Junior Shelby Quinn started the offensive attack for the Bulldogs, scoring 6 of the first 8 points, but Concordia was unable to solidify a strong lead. Mount Marty led 15-13 with 2:43 left in the first quarter.
Mount Marty continued to gain momentum in the second quarter, and Concordia trailed 30-26 with 4 minutes left in the second quarter. The Bulldogs responded with an 11-0 run before the break and gained a 37-33 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs started another run when sophomore Mary Janovich contributed a layup. Concordia finished the third quarter with a 57-48 lead.
The final 10 minutes tipped in favor of the Bulldogs. Sophomores Sydney Feller and Brenleigh Daum netted back-to-back 3-pointers to create a 68-52 lead. The largest lead of the game came after junior Aubri Bro’s 3-pointer to make it 74-55. The Bulldogs finished the game leading 77-59.
Freshman Quinn Wragge led the Bulldogs with 13 points, Quinn contributed 11 points and Feller scored 10 points. Eleven 3-pointers by the Concordia Bulldogs contributed to the large lead, along with 8-for-10 shooting from the foul line.
The Bulldogs will play their final pre-Christmas game at 5 p.m. on Dec. 18 at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.
