The Concordia University men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled to Des Moines to take on Grand View University on Friday morning, but the combined teams suffered a defeat of 6-3.
The women’s team has a 0-3 start to the season with defeats from Grand View, Baker University and Fort Hays State University.
From the women’s side, junior Annie Horn, sophomore Kayla Smock and freshman Kirsten Wagner all picked up wins in singles, but it was not enough to pull away with the team victory.
On the men’s side, senior Javier Moreno and sophomore Gabe Poling won their respective matches in singles. In doubles, Moreno teamed up with freshman Alex Kaldahl to get Concordia’s only win in doubles play.
The men are now 0-3 on the season.
The Bulldog men have a quick turnaround as they stay overnight in Des Moines and take on Central College of Iowa at noon on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The women return to campus and take a week off of playing. They will face Southwestern College of Kansas in Fremont on Friday. First serve is at 4 p.m.
