Concordia men’s basketball topped the Dordt Defenders 99-71 in Waltz Arena on Saturday’s Senior Night.
The Bulldogs honored four seniors: Chandler Folkerts, Seth Curran, Eli Ziegler and Justin Damme. The starting five was a little different on Saturday since coach Ben Limback gave Damme the chance to start as a post, which took sophomore Chris Johnstone out of the lineup.
Many Bulldogs shone versus Dordt. Ziegler scored 14 points, freshman Clay Reimers added 13, and freshman Tanner Shuck totaled 11 points along with Folkerts. Freshman Jake Hornick and Damme contributed to the win with 10 points each. Damme scored 10 points.
The senior class is one of the most dominant classes, but closely behind them is the freshman class. This group of players including Tanner Shuck, Clay Reimers and Jake Hornick are quickly becoming essential parts to the team and its promising future.
“This senior class is something special,” Curran said. “I love playing with every one of these guys, and we are excited about the success we are having and will hopefully continue to have.”
Now that the Bulldogs have completed the regular season, it’s tournament time. The GPAC tournament will begin on Wednesday. Sixth-seeded Concordia will travel to play third-seeded Dakota Wesleyan in the Corn Palace at 8 p.m. A win is needed in this game, as the loser of the game is eliminated.
