Home Sports Men’s Basketball Dominates on Senior Day

The Concordia men’s basketball team took on the Red Raiders of Northwestern College and won on Saturday, Feb. 13 in Walz Arena on Senior Day. The Bulldogs’ 110-89 victory finished out their home portion of the regular season schedule. Concordia will travel to Briar Cliff University on Saturday, Feb. 20 to finish its GPAC schedule.

The Bulldogs started out the game with a huge 61-point first half, but before the Bulldogs began the scoring spree, the first few minutes of the game flipped in favor of the Red Raiders of Northwestern. The Bulldogs trailed 27-26 with under 10 minutes to play in the first half. Senior Jamie Pearson gave Concordia the lead with a 3-pointer, 31-30 with seven minutes on the clock. The momentum finally started rolling for the Bulldogs, who soon created a 48-35 lead after a bucket by junior Chandler Folkerts. Concordia led 61-44 at the half. High efficiency offense by the Bulldogs helped to keep the rhythm for the team.

Concordia quickly extended its lead to 20 points at the beginning of the second half. An assortment of players stepped up offensively to keep the point differential close to 20 through the rest of the game. Fourteen Bulldog players contributed minutes in the 110-89 victory. The Bulldogs made an outstanding 17 3-point shots, led by Pearson and fellow senior Robby Thomas who both tallied four apiece.

Pearson and Thomas contributed 26 and 16 points respectively. Folkerts scored 21 and tallied 11 rebounds for another double-double. Sophomore Rudy Knight also chipped in 12 points for the Bulldogs.
