Freed excited to begin working with students

Director of Student Development Rebekah Freed began her service at Concordia in the Student Life Office this summer.
Freed graduated from Concordia after her internship as a Director of Christian Education, which began in 2010. She worked in New York for nine years at First Trinity Lutheran Church, and as campus ministry director at the University at Buffalo.
“When this ministry opportunity came up, I wasn’t anticipating any kind of move or job change,” Freed said. “The thought of being able to work in full-time ministry on a university campus was very intriguing and exciting to me … God was just making it very clear that He was indeed calling me here.”
Freed’s new position includes many duties.
“My main roles as the director in SLO involve overseeing Concordia’s residence halls and hiring, training, and supporting the residence hall staff,” Freed said. “I also lead our Peer Ministry program, coordinate LAUNCH (new student orientation), work with student activity groups to provide opportunities for students to connect with others, and more.”
Freed is looking forward to getting to know the students of Concordia as she begins her time here.
