Concordia Track Teams Finish Busy Weekend off Strong

The Concordia men’s and women’s teams finished off a busy weekend with several athletes competing in the Husker Invite while the rest of the team members competed at the Fred Beile Classic in Crete.
Senior Kim Wood broke her own school record in the mile run with a time of 4:51.61 and placed fourth at the meet.
Other performances at the Husker Invite included junior CJ Muller in the 600-meter run. Muller earned third place with a time of 1:20.46 while teammate Jaap Van Gaalen finished 10th with a time of 1:23.30.
In field performances, junior Zach Lurz claimed a sixth-place finish in shot put with a throw of 58’ 4”.
In the Fred Beile Classic, the Bulldogs had highlight performances by Marti Vlasin, Taylor Grove, McKenzie Gravo, Kattie Cleveland, Elizabeth King, Thomas Taylor, Chris Shelton, Jordan Potrzeba and Jose Rojas.
Shelton and Rojas were the only Bulldogs to garner first-place finishes in their respective events. Shelton won the mile run with a time of 4:30.09 while Rojas won the men’s shot put with a throw of 54’ 3 ¾”.
Concordia will have more one meet before GPAC Indoor Championships and NAIA Indoor National Championships. The Bulldogs will host the Concordia Indoor Invitational meet on Friday, Feb. 12 in Walz Arena.
