Concordia Soccer Gets One Win and One Loss Against Midland

Concordia split games on the road against Midland on Wednesday. The women’s team received their first loss of the season and the men’s team held on to win 3-2 against the Warriors.
The women’s team outshot Midland with 18 shots on goal compared to Midland’s seven, but only one shot on goal found the net. Concordia’s only goal came in the 71st minute from junior Grace Soenksen who was assisted by junior Ellie Eason. Midland scored two goals prior to Concordia’s goal, and the final score ended up at 3-1 in Midland’s favor.
The men’s team came out with an early lead after goals in the fifth and 31st minutes. Junior Matt Schultz picked up an assist on both goals, the first to junior Max Bisinger and the second to sophomore Jarrod Henson. Midland picked up two goals of their own in the second half, but with a Concordia goal in the 71st minute by sophomore Ryan Wokutch the Bulldogs walked away with their eighth win of the season.
The women’s team falls to a record of 6-1-2, and their Great Plains Athletic Conference record is now 1-1-2 on the season. The men’s team moves to 8-2 on the season with a 3-1 record in the GPAC. The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday as both teams take on Dakota Wesleyan University.
