Home Sports Concordia Football Takes Down Mount Marty

The Bulldogs scored five touchdowns and one field goal to beat Mount Marty University 38-7 in Saturday’s game in Yankton, South Dakota.

The Bulldog’s offense started off strong with a touchdown pass from DJ McGarvie to Cayden Beran in the first 5 minutes of the game. Later in the first quarter, Kicker Daniel Cantu successfully made a 24-yard field goal making the score 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. 

In the second quarter, Mount Marty’s Ka’ua Nishagaya rushed one yard for a touchdown bringing the score to 10-7. Concordia swiftly responded when Martin Solano rushed for six yards to score another touchdown.

Mount Marty received in the second half, but their advantage was short-lived when Concordia’s Caydren Cox intercepted a pass and ran eight yards to score a touchdown. Bulldog receiver Garrett Schardt would score a 17-yard pass from McGarvie later in that quarter.

Late in the fourth quarter, McGarvie completed a pass to Beran for the fifth touchdown of the game. 

Concordia is now 4-3 overall, 4-3 in the GPAC. The Bulldogs will play again on October 23rd against Midland University at 1 p.m. at Bulldog stadium.
