The 2024 Plum Creek Literacy Festival has been canceled due to “unforseen circumstances,” according to a Concordia press release on Sept. 11.

The festival’s Pre-Sale Book Sale and Art Gallery talk have also been canceled.

“We deeply appreciate the enthusiasm of our community, supporters, authors, educators and volunteers who have contributed to the continued success of the festival,” Concordia said. “We are actively working on addressing the logistics presented with the cancellation. Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.”

The festival was founded in 1996 and has historically drawn more than 2,000 children to Concordia’s campus for a day of activities, presentations by authors and illustrators, and a book sale.
