The Bulldogs continued their march toward the National Indoor Track and Field Meet on Friday, Jan. 20 at the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolf Invitational in the Bob Devaney Sports Center as Concordia continued to collect its national qualifying marks and prove that it is becoming a permanent competitive fixture on the GPAC track scene.

Senior Lucas Wiechman had a banner day, qualifying for nationals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.25. Junior Scott Johnson followed suit with a nationals qualifying and first-place long jump of 7.15 meters.

Aside from the qualifying marks, the Bulldogs swept up six first places. Senior Cody Boellstorff won the weight throw with 65’ 5”. Senior Zach Lurz won the shot put with a throw of 53’5 ½”. Wiechman also won the pole vault with a jump of 16’ 2 ¾”. Sophomore Allie Brooks won the pole vault with a jump of 11’ 10 ¾”. The men’s 4×400 meter relay consisting of Wiechman, junior Jake Rodgers, sophomore Nathan Matters and senior CJ Muller also took first with a time of 3:21.48.

Runners freshman Sophie Hoelz, sophomore Daniel Hakes and senior Ben Hulett all achieved personal bests at the meet. Jumpers freshman Taylor Beck and sophomore Paul Hammes and throwers freshman JC Cornelio and senior Kali Robb also had personal bests.

The Bulldogs will be at home next week at the Concordia Indoor Classic at Walz Arena. The meet will begin at 2 p.m.
