Bulldogs Fall in Close Match with Third Ranked Midland

Concordia’s volleyball team lost 2-3 to No. 3 Midland University on Wednesday, Sept. 29. The Bulldogs were able to take the game to the fifth set where they lost 15-13. The Bulldogs moved to an overall record of 9-7 (4-4 GPAC).
Concordia was up 12-8 in the fifth set before Midland went on a five-point rally making it 13-12. The Bulldogs would only score one more point after that. Four Bulldogs gathered at least ten kills with sophomore Camryn Opfer leading the way with 17 kills, freshman Gabi Nordaker with 14, junior Erica Heinzerling with 13 and freshman Carly Rodaway with 10.
The Bulldogs had 58 total assists while Midland had 52. Senior Tara Callahan led the Bulldogs with 54 assists. The Bulldogs also beat Midland in kills and digs having 63 kills and 57 digs compared to Midlands 53 kills and 46 digs.
Concordia will play Doane University next on Wednesday, Oct. 6 in Crete, Nebraska. That game is set for 7:30 p.m. Doane is currently just outside the top 25 with an overall record of 16-4 (4-3 GPAC).
