Bulldogs Defeat Top-Ranked Tigers
by Chris Johnstone
The seventh-ranked women’s basketball team upset the first-ranked Dakota Wesleyan Tigers 85-82 on the afternoon of Dec. 3.
Senior guard Shelby Quinn led the team with 20 points and six assists, while shooting 12-14 from the free throw line.
“It honestly feels really good,” said Quinn. “They are a really good team and whenever you beat a good team, you have a good feeling afterwards.”
Both teams came into the game undefeated in GPAC play.
Dakota Wesleyan guard Rylie Osthus lead the way for the Falcons with 16 points, but it was not enough to stop the Bulldog defense as Concordia forced 24 turnovers from the Tigers in the contest.
“I think we were able to get so many turnovers because we all did a good job of having a lot of ball pressure and active hands that led to the turnovers,” said Quinn.
Junior guard Mary Janovich added 19 points, 5 assists and 3 steals for the Bulldogs. Quinn Wragge led the team with eight rebounds and contributed 16 points.
The Bulldogs continue conference play as they hit the road and take on the Morningside Mustangs on Wednesday, Dec. 7 on the Mustangs’ home floor. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
