by Chris Johnstone
The Concordia volleyball were victorious against Bethany College (Kan.) on Wednesday night, defeating the Swedes 25-11, 25-19, 25-19 in front of a large crowd in Walz Arena.
Sophomore Outside Hitter Alex La Plant once again led the way with 11 kills on 20 swings to get the Bulldogs’ first victory of the 2017 season.
“The team really wanted to come back with good energy and the three set game was a result of us having fun and getting our jobs done together”, said Sophomore Jenna Eller
Bethany (Kan.) Senior Azucena Duarte helped the Swedes with 9 kills but it was not enough the Bulldogs defense as Concordia logged 36 digs on the evening.
“We are going to a royals game tonight and having a light practice before tomorrow’s game day,” said Eller. “We are excited to enjoy each other’s company and mostly to play together with this new mindset we have.”
The Bulldogs now hit the road for the Viking Invitational in Marshall, Mo. where they match up against Ottawa University on Friday, Aug. 25th. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
