Day One: Wednesday, April 2

The A Cappella Choir left Concordia’s campus at 2 p.m. and traveled to Kearney, Nebraska. They performed at Kearney High School at 7 p.m. The concert began with two pieces sung by the Kearney High School Chorale, followed by A Cappella’s repertoire. The Kearney Chorale returned in the second half of the concert and sang two joint pieces with A Cappella.

 

Day Two: Thursday, April 3

The A Cappella Choir had a long drive on Thursday from Kearney, Nebraska, to Centennial, Colorado. Once they arrived at Our Father Lutheran Church, they set up for their 7 p.m. concert and had a mass rehearsal with students from Lutheran High School in Parker, Colorado. The Lutheran High School choirs were directed by Concordia alumnus Chris Loesel and current Concordia student Colin Thuringer. The Lutheran High Jubilate Chorus sang two pieces, plus one joint piece with the A Cappella Choir. Along with the A Cappella Choir’s usual concert music, the concert included a piece with the Concordia alumni in attendance.

 

Day Three: Friday, April 4

The choir started the day by singing for a chapel service at Lutheran High School in Parker, Colorado. Then they had a workshop with members of the Lutheran High choirs before eating lunch at the school. The A Cappella Choir drove to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. They planned to spend a few hours hiking, but bad weather shortened their time at the outdoor attraction. They drove to Flatiron Crossing Mall in Arvada, Colorado, for the remainder of the afternoon. They finished the day with a 7 p.m. concert at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada.

 

Day Four: Saturday, April 5

On Saturday, the choir drove from Arvada to Estes Park, Colorado. There, they had several hours to eat, go to coffee shops, and visit stores in downtown Estes Park. After their afternoon in the mountains, they drove down to Loveland, Colorado, to Immanuel Lutheran Church for their 7 p.m. concert. Immanuel is the home congregation of A Cappella members Bailey and Brianna Bianco.

 

Day Five: Sunday, April 6

On Sunday morning, the A Cappella Choir assisted in worship for the 8 a.m. church service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loveland, Colorado. They attended the church’s education hour with sessions discussing C. S. Lewis’ “Mere Christianity,” the Gospel of Luke, and other topics. The choir assisted with the pre-service music for the 10:30 service before departing for downtown Fort Collins, Colorado. They spent the early afternoon sightseeing, shopping, and eating lunch. They performed a 4 p.m. concert at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins before dispersing with host families to eat dinner.
