Women’s Golf Triumphs; Men’s Golf Has Further To Go
by Victoria Cameron
Men’s and women’s golf both opened their 2019 seasons with the Blue River Classic and the Matthew Goette Classic, respectively.
Concordia’s women’s golf team finished 4 of 11 against the College of Saint Mary’s Sept. 4 in the Matthew Goette Classic. They played on the Tiburon Golf Course in Omaha.
“I was proud of Murphy [Sears] and Kendra [Placke],” Head Golf Coach Brett Muller said. “It was great to see them both finish inside the top 5.”
Men’s golf, on the other hand, finished 9 of 17 at the Blue River Classic against Doane University on Concordia’s home course in Lincoln, Highland Golf Course.
“It was a disappointing day,” Muller said. “We did not play as well as we expected, especially playing on our home course.”
Golf will continue to play through October and will then resume in March.
