President Friedrich welcomes students back to campus
Welcome to the 2017-18 academic year, the 124th academic year in the history of Concordia University, Nebraska. Our academic year theme is from
Romans 5:1 ESV: “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
As the year begins, I pray that you will know the peace that God offers to all people through the life, death and resurrection of His Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. We live in a chaotic world where peace is in very short supply. Yet, by God’s grace through the gift of faith, we have peace that passes all human understanding as we live, study, serve, recreate, build relationships and grow during the year ahead.
During the summer, we completed several important capital projects: a new Center of Liturgical Art, a new colonnade, plaza, fencing and sidewalks in and around Bulldog Stadium, renovation of the Cattle
Conference Room and the re-roofing and repainting of Weller Hall. In addition, we welcomed 17 new full-time partners in ministry and finalized preparations for the reaccreditation of the University by the Higher Learning Commission. We also prepared to view the Solar Eclipse on the very first day of classes and have ordered a pair of viewing glasses for every person on campus! I am excited to view this marvel of
God’s creation with you! It has been a busy and productive summer. The projects completed and new ministry partners welcomed to campus increase our ability to serve you, our wonderful students, more effectively. They enable us to deliver the Promise of a Lutheran Education in which community, inquiry, purpose and wisdom are delivered by people highly invested in your success as a student and committed to providing you an excellent academic education so you are equipped to serve and lead in God’s church and world!
As a new academic year begins, seize every opportunity to participate in this incredible community with its many and varied members! Find peace, hope, encouragement and joy in this Christian community and in God’s steadfast love for you!
