by Garrett Suchanek
In its first action since the Arizona road trip, the Concordia softball team split a doubleheader against Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.
The Bulldogs move to 13-4 on the year.
In game one the Bulldogs entered the seventh inning tied at four apiece. Junior Kylie Harpst came to the plate with two on and two out. Harpst ripped a two-RBI triple to give the Bulldogs a 6-4 lead, which ultimately was the final score. Harpst was also the starting pitcher and pitched a complete game, giving up four runs on seven hits.
In game two the Swedes picked up the win by scoring two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to earn a 4-2 win. The Swede’s Anna Crawford blasted a go-ahead two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth to lift Bethany College over the Bulldogs. Concordia picked up both of their runs in the third inning with a sacrifice fly and a base hit.
The Bulldogs will have eight days to prepare for GPAC play. Concordia will open GPAC play at Northwestern College at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 24
